My final for Design 3D class.

We were to “remix” a piece of work from a “master” and so I chose Louise Bourgeois’ 1945-47 oil on canvas painting called “Femme Maison”. (Translates to “housewife”)

Bourgeois originally painted it because she had recently become an immigrant to the U.S. and had just become a mother. This remix is made with air dry clay, acrylic paint, cardboard, paper and floral foam. I thought it would make sense for me to combine two of Bourgeois’ mediums that she was “prolific” in. The contrasting colors of the vines and the inclusion of the phone was to signify that external pressures/opinions can creep in and take hold of a woman’s beliefs, perspectives about herself and how she handles herself.

3D printing, scanning, copying and faxing all in one machine. Where this printer excels is in its simple interface and usability giving the everyday person the ability to access 3D printing. I wish this project well and hope to see more of these user friendly printers appearing.
